Planning a wedding in Mexico from another country

Distance is the first worry of almost every destination couple. Here is what couples who did it from afar tell us about it.

Alexa Donnelly was planning from Chicago. “Initially we were very nervous to plan a destination all the way from Chicago,” she wrote. Then came the first conversation with Jane, over FaceTime, and the feeling changed.

From the first time I spoke with Jane over FaceTime she made us feel so relaxed and excited for our day.

You do not need to know the place

Woven lamps hanging from a frame of rough timber lashed with rope, against a deep blue sky.

Jane & Co. is based in Riviera Maya, and our suppliers are chosen for their quality, professionalism and commitment. For Alexa, that meant vendors she did not have to go looking for. For your guests, it means agreements with hotels in the destination, with special concessions and group room rates.

Three days, 115 people

Distance does not have to mean a smaller celebration. Alexa’s wedding became three days of events for 115 people, and she called it a massive undertaking. Her weekend went off without a hitch.

International guests need looking after too. Patricia Estrada had guests from abroad and remembers their transfer and reception running right on time.

Someone beside you, even from far away

Planning a wedding can get complicated and stressful. Jane was there holding my hand (even if it was at a distance) at each stage.
Alondra & Alban

Alondra and Alban married in Holbox. Yami and John expected a destination wedding to be difficult, and write that they were able to enjoy every moment of the planning. If you are starting from far away, tell us where you are and what you imagine. It begins with a conversation.
